Pat and Patrick

The last few week have been like the rest of the year not great .With lots of talk of fish about im not so sure, maybe a bit of more anglers fishing more hours.Had a early one last week finished work at 4 am and went straight to the beach with Pat from work.
Black minnows where the weapons of choice keeping in mind Pat has never had a bass on a lure.Fished hard for the few hours resulting in two bass one for and one for Pat .He was over the moon to be honest he has that buzz now he just wants that bang on the rod more .To be very honest the fishing is not great but Pat dont care about that good man Pat.Pat son patrick has had one aswell all caught on video

Dogs And Rods

Jesus H Christ the rods the dogs now im a dog lover but fucking hell when they eat your gear what do you do KICK UM nah just kidding.Rods have cost me a lot of money this year more than i want to know about.Why do pups like to chomp on things I should know I have had them all my life but i will get over it.

Been fishing all week and as im new enough to the lure game me thinks something ant right.I have always bait fished only in the last 4 or so years  have i started to lure fish for bass.out of a total amount of hours fishing i would take a stab 20 hours and 3 bass is that good me thinks not.From what i know about fishing and thats not much the bass dont seem to be about, call me a fool im sure you will.

I hammered a spot Friday that a few years ago would have turned up some nice  bass but didnt  but the macs were all over the place which is strange as well because i never seen them so far up Cork Harbour before.
The last two years i think have been the worst i have ever seen everyone talks about the weather being so cold early in the year but I dont buy into all that.My best time of year for numbers of bass would have been January not size just number.Then April would have accounted the good size bass.Januray did turn up number but all small April didnt give me a big one but a few lads did get them.

i just dont think the bass numbers are there anymore  netting maybe ,well more than likely shame really as the bass are a great fish to catch but i have to say im finding it harder and harder to get them.THANK GOD FOR POLLOCK I SAY. Below is Dot the rod eatting bitch lol.

Rod Busters

Headed to a mark looking get myself some big pollock what a day it turned out to be close on 50 fish i would say but didn't count them.Started fishing about 2:30 pm and from the off the fish were hitting the lures come 9 o clock that night i was still catching fish. with 17 missed calls on the phone it was time to head home. I have to say the pollock all between 3-5lb buckled the rod at times with the dives mental fishing. If you look close at the picture you can see a bass sticking its big old head out of the water.Im just about to go back to this mark for something very ammmm i wont say to much at this stage it could take awhile .

What A Day

Now back to the fishing had my best fish of the year last Monday but it did take 7 hours to get one bass not great but she did hit the scale a just 9lb falling to a sammy off the surface so well worth the 7 hours.But for me this year has been still hit and miss with numbers well down on the last few years. In saying all that my friend Clinton has been nailing them week in week out at ease.Some pictures of some of the fish from the last few weeks.

Paul below can all the way down from Dublin to get a few bass and was a happy man going back home. With a total of 8 bass for the days fishing so a great result

This night we just had to walk away from the fishing it was so good from big flounder, warrse and one fish we will never know what it was .

What can i say about Paul , He eats sleeps fishing the man is nuts but a great guy to fish with no matter how many times he blanks he comes back for more a really nice sound guy.

On this day we fished for 15 hours and the fishing was none stop all day long at get off to a bad start with me busting a lure rod i had in the morning .But after that things only got better fish after fish all day.

New Taekwondo World Champion

Its been a long time since i have had anything to put in this old blog.But a few things have been happening with my son jack becoming new Taekwondo world champion with a silver medal and a few fish to boot .

Some Cork Bass The Last Few Weeks

After the ban on fishing for bass had my first session and the best fish coming in just over 5lb.A great morning flat water no wind but two big fat seals working the area.For most this would be time to pack it in and move on but fished on . Sure enough it payed off as soon as the seals had split one going right and the other going left I put the lure on the spot the seals had been on the surface working.Four turns of the reel handle and bang first bass a good one about 4 lb .Not long after the second came same size and then one a bit better just over 5lb.

Over the few days after the ban anglers are starting to get a few again with reports of big numbers been taken on bait 0ne report with ten in a session to 6lb.Local angler Sean nails this first bass of the year on a lure with The Beast as he called him.

Fished yesterday for about 6 hours looking for a bigger bass but as i well know big bass dont come easy.Had about 8 or 9 pollock a great fish in my eyes to catch . Nice little dives from the mad little brown fellas
